in an ebony sea lies a Cherokee moon where she was bred to breed and make men swoon but she's run out of men to lay so she prowls the milky way to make first contact tonight with freckles like stars on chartreuse skin and ankle height scars cut from within purple eyes that penetrate I swear they calculate she'll make first contact tonight I woke to a light outside my door I fell right to the floor she came tommyknocking to announce she's arrived with the flick of a wrist i was bound to comply no plate is gonna save me now didn't want to be saved anyhow so i'll make first contact
3.
activate my heart with the taste of aluminum love drip by drip my heart cedes to my head's duplicitous side if the night's consistent with our ego's design i'll be begging on my knees to keep this joy alive staring down the hands for the promise of weekend bliss paint peels off the walls waiting for the taste of a forbidden kiss if the night's consistent with our ego's design i'll be begging on my knees to keep this joy alive
4.
the lack of light gives such weight to every word that you say midnight whispers a lunar sigh keeps me up until tomorrow turns to night the evening comes to replace every moment of heartbreak with a shudder so divine keeps me up until tomorrow turns to night call off your weekend call off your plans call all your friends and tell them I am now your man the lack of light gives such weight to every word that you say midnight whispers a lunar sigh keeps me up until tomorrow turns to night
5.
a little hope is a beautiful thing since I met her all I do is sing about ruby lips shaking hips wizards, words, and wine a little hope is a dangerous thing I've been feeling like a dog in need with my wagging tail midnight wails doubt was once a distant myth now it drowns my confidence like a ten ton weight in a tar pit a little hope is a maddening thing I cannot sleep, so I cannot dream about ruby lips shaking hips wizards, words, and wine

True Pain 02:43
true pain keeps you up at night haunts your soul with indelible fright true pain isn't black and blue it's a gray that possesses you true pain has eternal life in those flaws you refuse to abide true pain are the final words that your dad said to you that your dad said to you that you can not recall that you can not recall true pain is the look in her eyes when you can't remember last night and the guilt's surely on your side but you're consumed with impregnable pride So the dance goes on for days The more you meet, the less you say Til the song and dance are done and you're left with regret and you're plagued with regret and you're consumed with regret for the things you can't reclaim cause of things you can't recall
7.
Blessed 04:01
i never thought i would last so long oh, i'm unimpressed life keeps stringing me along oh, i must be blessed oh, and all this time i thought my life was owned by saturn's reprise one by one i imbibe my pride oh i'm under duress pass my foes in the dead of night i must be blessed oh, and i never call you but i must call upon you oh, cause i need to know was i meant to go when i dreamt i never woke up i never thought i would last this long oh, i must be blessed on i go with the undead flow oh, i'm so depressed oh, and i never call you but i must call upon you oh, cause i need to know was i meant to go when i dreamt i never woke up black and white would be so nice so i beg to be released
8.
i need you to keep me from going overboard i hear my head whisper "burn it down, cause i'm getting bored" so i ask you while i'm sane i need you to keep me from myself i need you to keep me from going off the rails i chew my own fingers to get the white under my nails so i beg you with sobriety i need you to keep me from myself i need you to keep me cause you're the only thing i truly love
9.
if you're getting lonely in this sedentary life i'm gonna, i'm gonna, i'm gonna, i'm gonna, i'm gonna come rescue you tonight we'll get invincible with euphoria come on let's go to the brink if you feel expired from another week so trite i'm gonna, i'm gonna, i'm gonna come rescue you tonight we'll get absolute with our rabid sides come on let's go to the brink we'll get downright fucked up and aggravate come on, come on let's go the brink

i've been subdued lovingly abused beaten by the beating of her heart she came with no intention just love and pure aggression passion for the punch she put her lips to my lips i came to with her fist imprinted on my jaw i've been subdued lovingly abused beaten by the beating of her heart i would never surrender i only tend to let her win after i lose i've learned to see so clearly through black eyes it was merely my wrong point of view now i can't sleep without the sweet lover's lullaby of a concussed head her eyes are steely hazel they make my knees unable to stand like they've been broke her voice so innocent 1,000 decibels, leaves me deaf she's the last thing that i heard i've been subdued lovingly abused beaten by the beating of her heart

about

(BEFORE LISTENING: This album is meant to be listened to as a Side A/Side B experience. So if you're an audiophile (giant music geek) like we are, you want to take a quick break between "Wizards, Words, & Wine" and "True Pain". Maybe do a quick stretch, refill your drink, or just take a minute to enjoy the silence.)

This album was written over the course of three months, then recorded a few months later. It would have been released sooner but Keith got preoccupied by domestic unrest and relinquishing his dipsomaniacal ways. If you're not listening to this loudly, you're listening to it wrong.

We tracked about 90% of the music live, barring piano overdubs and guitar solos which were done in bedrooms across Essex county. Vocals were done over a couple days at Strongarm Studios with Matt Pelissier, who also engineered the holy fuck out of the album. He's a true genius of sound.

Everything was done on the first or second take, because to quote Fat Mike, "sloppiness counts". A couple of jams were left off the album which might re-surface as B-sides depending on how we're feeling about releases and singles in the future.

Caffeine is fueling this rant.
- Keith
